Q: Who the hell are you?
A: My name is Evan Thomas Weiss. I play (and have played) in a bunch of bands you may or may not know.. A few of them are: THE PROGRESS, UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A START, IT'S A KING THING and MAP THE GROWTH.

Q: What is this?
A: I am writing a song a week for an entire year in the form of an autobiography. The first song was posted on my birthday (9/27/07). The last song will be posted on 10/02/08.

Q: What gave you this idea?
A: I was in a rut with music and my life. This was a good way to get out of it.

Q: Are all the songs really written that week?
A: Yes. Generally, music is written over the weekend. Lyrics are written on Monday or Tuesday and the songs are recorded Wednesday. This has been subject to change only a couple times, but they are always finished before Wednesday of that week. It would be cheating otherwise.

Q: No way!
A: Yes way.

Q: What are these songs about?
A: They are about my life. Each song is written about something specific from that week. Some are happy and some aren't. They are all (more often than not, brutally) honest.

Q: Where do you record these songs?
A: Most everything is recorded by Steve Poponi (Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start) at The Gradwell House. Demos are done at home on an Olympus Voice Recorder.

Q: How long does it take to record everything?
A: Each week we have about 4 hours to track, mix and master everything. It keeps us sharp and makes for a lot of quick decision making.

Q: No way!
A: Seriously... yes way.

Q: And you pay for all of this?
A: Yes. For me, it's just like a weekly bill. Some songs take less than others, so it's on a sliding scale. I also clean their bathroom for $20 off each weeks song. No joke.

Q: Is it you playing everything?
A: It almost always is. My friends Jason (The Progress) and Mike (Gunna Vahm, Map The Growth, Emergency!) have played drums on more than a few songs. I've also had friends of mine sing on a couple. Steve does some playing from time to time as well. For the most part it is me doing everything.

Q: I don't get it... These songs are free??
A: Yes. Right click and download the songs. Listen to them as much as you want. Share them with your friends. Put them on mixtapes. Light them on fire. Just don't steal them. Everything is copyrighted.

Q: Who does all the artwork for this? It looks awesome.
A: Brian Mietz (It's A King Thing) designs everything. His site is www.dinerstate.net.
